A Kisharon School pupil had a chance encounter with new Health Secretary Sajid Javid on his second day in the post.

Chanochi Pearl, 11, had an appointment at London’s St Thomas’ Hospital, where Mr Javid was visiting.

Encountering Chanochi outside, they touched elbows in a Covid-compliant greeting, the politician asking the boy’s mum, Jane, how she had found Chanochi’s treatment in the NHS “as it’s important we look after the children”.

Mrs Pearl responded that Chanochi had received good care, also telling Mr Javid about Kisharon’s efforts to keep pupils safe and continue learning during the pandemic.
