DEATHS

BAKER. Celia (née Cissie Alterman). Died October 8, Chol Hamoed Succot, aged 97. Feisty, indomitable, generous, intelligent, elegant and kind. She had high standards for herself and everyone else. Wife to David for nearly 70 years. She will be greatly missed by sister Pearl and brothers Jules and Philip, son Keith, daughter Anne, daughter-in-law Fionuala, son-in-law Melvyn, her beloved grandchildren and adored great-grandchildren, family and friends.

BASSALIAN. Amir. Beloved husband of Nahid, father to Eddie z'l, Alex and Andy, father-in-law of Sylvie, Rakel and Michal. The best 'baba' to his grandchildren. Now reunited with his beloved son Eddie. A caring and warm-hearted gentleman, who was loved by everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

BAYLIN. Linda. Husband Dennis, mother of Samantha and Sean, Claire and Michael, grandmother of Charlotte and Phoebe. The most glorious woman, a statement of life, will be remembered forever with huge love and affection. The wind beneath our wings. May our beauty rest in peace.

BAYLIN. Linda. A dear sister-in-law died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 16, after a tremendous and bravely fought battle with a terrible illness. BUNDER (née Simons, formerly Shenetsky). Lorraine "Lol". Fantastic mother, caring mother-in-law, brilliant grandmother, beloved aunt, great-auntie, sister, sister-in-law, cousin and friend to all. A lady of dignity, with a great sense of humour and passion for life. Born July 1, 1923 in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales and passed away October 11, 2017 in London, England, having travelled and lived in Cape Town and New York. Lol interacted with so many people of all different cultures, backgrounds and faiths and was always proud to show yiddishkeit and jewish values to all by helping all. Now together with her husband Max Bunder, brothers Abe, Sydney, Leslie (Simons), sister Davena Pelta (née Simons) and parents Cyril (also known as Shyar) and Rebecca Simons (née Wienburg). BUNDER. Lorraine. My bubbe Lol was special. She was unique. She taught me things that nobody else could teach. Bubbe Lol made the best food you could ever have. I love my bubbe so much and with all my heart. Bubbe Lol will always be with me.¬ Love, Emily.

A huge part of our lives, we had a closeness that was a joy; she was especially close to our late, beloved brother Stevie. Our funny, naughty Auntie Lol will be missed enormously, but leaves wonderful memories of our childhood days full of her laughter. Now with those she loved and missed so much. COHEN. Judith. Passed away peacefully in Devon on October 1, aged 92. Much loved and deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

COHEN. Eva. Beloved mother of Ruth and Robert, mother-in-law to Linda and Lionel. Sadly passed away October 7, after a short illness. A beautiful, elegant and sweet lady, who adored and cherished her family. Forever in our hearts, greatly missed but never forgotten. May her dear soul rest in peace.

COHEN. Eva. Darling grandma and grandma-in-law to Dee, Paul, Selina and William, great-grandma to Lola, Jack and Harry. We are saddened to no longer be able to pop in to spend time with our sweet, glamorous grandma, who adored us and us her. She will be sorely missed but always remembered with a smile and her memory treasured.

FENTON. Susan. Our wonderful, brave mummy and 'mema' Sue, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017. FIELDING. Eric Roger. October 8, 2017. Died peacefully at home, aged 98 years. Beloved husband of the late Stella, much loved father of Jane and Susie, father-in-law of Steven and David, adoring grandfather of Katie, Jessica, Henrietta and Jamie and great-grandfather of Griffin and Georgie. Founder of Robert Fielding of Regent Street and successful entrepreneur. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends in England and Los Angeles. Funeral already held in Los Angeles. FRANK. Herbert. Passed away suddenly on October 3. Will be deeply missed by loving wife Flora, children Simone and El, Richard and Francesca, Gideon and Rachel, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gone too soon. He was loved by all who knew him.

HARVEY. Frank. My dad was one of a kind and no-one will ever replace him. He was a friendly, fun, passionate and very honest man, whose zest for life knew no bounds. From the East End of London to the East Cliff of Bournemouth was his story. He has now gone to be with my mum Estelle and brother Dean. May they all rest in peace together.

HORWICH. Maureen (née Harris). Passed away peacefully in Manchester on Tishri 20 and now finally rejoined with her beloved Geoffrey. Deeply mourned by her daughters Susie, Manda and Debra, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A warm-hearted and dignified lady, who lived life to the full.

IRVING. Solly. It is with immense grief that we announce the sad loss of our father, on Tuesday, October 10. A Holocaust survivor, a man of Torah, whose faith never failed him. Shiva terminated.¬ Hazel and Ruth, son-in-law Jeremy, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

LEVY. Suzanne. Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13. She was devoted to helping others and dedicated to her family. She will be sadly missed by her parents Zena and Adash Bulwa, husband Paul, children Adam and Danielle, and grandchildren Louis and Chloe; also her sister Frances, brother-in-law Neil, niece Zoe, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Jonathan. NEWMAN. Philip. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 29. Blessed with charm, charisma, humour and intellect. Valerie and her family appreciate the many kind messages of support.

PETERS. Jeanette (née Beilin). Passed away peacefully on October 4, after 92 sweet years. An exceptional wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. SCHNEIDERMAN. Leon Gerald. My beloved and devoted husband of 50 years and adored father, father-in-law and papa passed peacefully away on October 2, aged 87. A wonderful, dignified, kind and loving, special partner in every aspect, whose lovely nature and sense of humour endeared him to so many. No words can express how much he will be missed and always will be loved. May his dear soul rest in peace.¬ Phoebe, Lynelle, Mark, Michael and Jacob.

SEGAL. Alex. Died suddenly on October 11, aged 75. Deeply mourned by his brother Michael, sister-in-law Marsha, nephews Mark, Adam and Guy, niece Lior and their families. Alex was a true gentleman, public-spirited, deeply principled, compassionate and generous.

SHALEV. Esther. Mourning the loss of our dearest and most wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was the centre of our family and always there for us; an exceedingly kind and generous woman, loved by everyone who knew her.¬ Shuki, Zavitty, Daniella, Coby, David, James, Rosa, Asher, Lonnie, Maya, Issi and Ayala.

STRAUSS. Ann (née Dreyfuss). Died peacefully after a short illness on Rosh Hashanah (September 21, 2017). She will be greatly missed by her children Jennifer, Andrew, Naomi and Jonathan, granddaughters Josie, Ariella, Susannah, Esther, Eliana, Neriah and Celia and many relatives and friends.

TAGER. Michele (Michou). Taken away so suddenly on October 13, aged 70, after 51 years of marriage. Shocked and deeply mourned by her husband Eric, daughters Patrizia, Claudia, Silvia, sons-in-law Stephen and Simon, brother-in-law Michael, sister-in-law Birte, her eight grandchildren and all her family.

WEISS. Lothar (Lou). Born November 23, 1923, Leipzig, Germany. Passed away aged 93 on October 15, 2017. Loving husband of the late Susie Lore Weiss (née Neumark). Mourned by his nieces Chava and Leora and a large circle of family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
