An NHS consultant has been arrested for selling a pamphlet that features a Star of David blended with a swastika and conspiracy theories about Jews.

Dr Ranjeet Brar has also claimed that Israel harvests the organs of Palestinians in an echo of the blood libel trope.

The medic, a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospital, is a leading activist in the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist Leninist), which campaigns for a proletarian revolution, supports North Korea and condemns Israel as “a reactionary tool of imperialism”.

Following October 7, members have appeared at pro-Palestine rallies across Britain selling the 100-page attack on Zionism for £5. “The Zionist state of Israel is a dagger aimed at the heart of the Arab people’s revolutionary-democratic movement,” it claims.

“It has subjugated mentally a large proportion of the world’s Jews — people who were formerly to be found in the front ranks of every democratic and socialist movement.”

Chapter four pushes the discredited theory that Ashkenazi Jews originate from Khazaria, a central European empire established in the sixth century.

“Given that the Khazars moved into and settled in Eastern Europe, antisemites push the conspiracy that Ashkenazi Jews — Jews descending from Eastern Europe — are not ‘real Jews’,” an American Jewish Committee report said.

In chapter five, its authors argue that claims of collaboration between Nazis and Zionists are “not antisemitic fantasies” but “based on historical facts”.

It says: “The Nazi-Zionist collaboration was not accidental, nor a matter of isolated individual actions. It arose logically from shared aims. Nazis wanted a Jewish-free Germany and Europe. Zionists wanted to get them to Palestine.”

It added: “No decent person, Jew or non-Jew, can shut their eyes to the collaboration of the Zionist leadership.”

Last year, copies of the Zionism pamphlet were seized by the police at an anti-Israel march and Dr Brar was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

Discussing his arrests on Press TV, the Iranian state television station, last December, the consultant said: “The image on the front is what attracts their attention. They have deliberately tried to equate anyone who has tried to equate the crimes of Zionist Israel with the crimes of Nazi Germany… It can’t be racist to repeat the truth.”

He has also claimed that Israel stole body parts from Palestinians. “They’ve seen bodies taken, released, captured. And when they’re returned to them, they’ve had organ harvesting. So they’ve seen the evidence it happens. Israel has said itself for instance that it has the largest skin bank in the world... What we see is, we live in a world in which everything is commodified.”

CPGB has also questioned whether Hamas, which has been proscribed in the UK since 2021, is a terror group. The CPBG has been contacted for comment on behalf of Dr Brar.
