First Jewish president of the Commonwealth Dental Association

articlemain

A London dentist has been installed as the first Jewish president of the Commonwealth Dental Association.

Anthony Kravits, who becomes the ninth president of the CDA, qualified at Manchester Dental School in 1966, aged 21. He then worked in general dental practice in north Manchester until he moved to London in 2005.

As part of his presidential address to delegates at the CDA's biennial general meeting held at the Manchester International Convention Centre, Dr Kravitz said: "I believe that it is incumbent, indeed a moral duty, on the larger national dental associations of the Commonwealth to take an active part in the CDA and, through our organisation, reach out to our colleagues in the countries with only a limited number of dental professionals, to give help in their endeavours."

The Mill Hill United Synagogue member was made an OBE in 2003.
