Glasgow’s Calderwood Lodge Jewish Primary has appointed Dr Jim Duffy as acting head — a role he also filled from March 2006 to June 2007. He will take up the post in August.
Parent council chair Colin Cowan said: “He did a fantastic job before. He offers continuity as someone who knows the ethos of the school and understands how it works.”
After his previous spell at Calderwood Lodge, Dr Duffy went to another primary school before becoming a quality improvement officer for East Renfrewshire Council, working with seven primary schools.
The current acting head, Maureen Langman, is retiring after serving the school for 20 years. The last permanent head was Vanessa Thomson, who left in April to move to a larger school.
Mr Cowan added: “The whole West of Scotland is struggling to appoint head-teachers — there’s just a lack of people that want to step up.”
