Israeli advocacy expert David Orlesker was on a whistle-stop speaking tour in the north of England.

Originally from Leeds, Mr Orlesker runs the Jerusalem Centre for Communication and Advocacy Training and is recognised as one of the foremost experts in educating students to tackle anti-Israel campaigns.

He spoke to Jewish students at Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham universities, and on Monday to 200 sixth-formers at Manchester's King David High. On Tuesday night he addressed more than 40 people at South Manchester Synagogue in Bowdon and on Wednesday was the guest of the Leicester community. It followed engagements in London last week.

Mr Orlesker said JSocs face the same argument that Zionism is racism that was made in the 1970s when he was a student at Sunderland Polytechnic.

The difference was "the demographic is so weighted that Jewish students feel no matter how good their arguments are, there is a built-in quota of people on campus they cannot convince".
