WOODFORD WANDERERS 0 OAKWOOD A 7

Oakwood set the pace from the first minute, forging ahead through Jonny Quinn, and they went on to score some great goals through Ben Lauffer (2), Leor Sidle and Dale Bradman.

It could have been a lot more but Woodford kept going In really poor weather conditions and goalkeeper Ben Rosenthal made some great saves.

The threat of Wine down the right and the movement of Leor Sidle and Dave Woolman in the second half was just too much for Woodford to handle, while Alex Lee and Dale Bradman rarely look like conceding.

Woodford were denied a consolation following Oakwood's only error at the back when goalkeeper Elliot Jackson conceded a penalty late on, but he made up for it with a brilliant penalty save low down to his right.

Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport; "We are hitting form at the right time. From the first minute to the last, we totally dominated this match. When we struggled against Woodford at home in November, although we did not look like conceding, we just didn’t have the attacking threat of Wine, Sidle and Lauffer. All of whom they couldn’t cope with. It was great that the goals were spread around the team.

"We now face a double-header against the title favourites Hendon. After their great start to the season, the pressure is firmly on them.

It’s a great feeling to go top of the league but we realise that the games in hand give them the upper hand and we will thrive on being underdogs.

"We are the form team in the league at the moment. We are scoring for fun and not conceding many, however we are aware that the Hendon test is a totally different proposition to the last couple of games and look forward to the challenge.

"We all remember what happened on February 21, 2016. Another day like that and we will give ourselves a great chance."
