Pro-Palestine supporters have celebrated the release of Arsenal's new away kit, believing it to be in support of the Palestinian cause.

The newly released Gooners Away kit features a black base with white graphic patterns under the arms and red and green Adidas stripes on the shoulders and neck. The club's distinctive cannon logo appears in red.

Some football fans took to social media claiming the kit was created in support of Palestine. One tweet declared, “Arsenal FC said ‘free Palestine,’” while another user wrote, “I’ll definitely wear this to a Free Palestine protest.” Another tweet noted, “The new Arsenal away kit’s colors and the white strips on the arms subtly look like keffiyehs. Definitely going to buy this one.”

Despite these assumptions, Adidas and British African heritage brand Labrum designed the kit to celebrate Pan-Africanism, taking inspiration from the colours of the Pan African flag. They stated, “Showing off Labrum London’s signature West African influences, this Adidas jersey is part of a collaboration with the British fashion brand. Intricate graphics and details in the colours of the Pan-African flag combine for an eye-catching look.”

The Jewish Gooners have also celebrated the new away kit. A spokesperson for the group said: “Jewish Gooners is proud to be part of the diverse family of Arsenal fans and supports the club in its endeavours to promote its rich cultural history and heritage through collaboration with those from communities that have given so much to the club.

“The newly-released away kit, designed by Labrum, a brand that exists solely to bridge the gap between Western and West African culture, is just one example of many where the club has used its global reach to celebrate the many fans and players whose hearts are in North London but whose heritage goes far beyond.”
