David Seligman praised the character shown by his Heaton Park Rovers side after earning a dramatic comeback draw in this 12-goal thriller.

Seligman’s men staged a remarkable second-half recovery that saw him snatch a point. HPR trailed 6-3 at one stage but hit back to stun Reich Insurance Rangers.

Seligman said: "We showed character and belief to come back. Most teams would be dead and buried but we never threw the towel in.

"It hasn’t worked out for us this season. But you can never question the effort."

HPR led early on via Alex Swift’s double before Reich hit back to lead before the break. Simon Lachs netted a hat-trick while Daniel Klapish (2) and Mike Gaswirth struck for the visitors.

But HPR kept chipping away and were never out of the game with Jonathan Franks (2), David Taylor and Joe Copeland all finding the net.

Reich director of football Gaswirth said: "We got ourselves in a winning position but we couldn’t finish the job off. It’s two points dropped as far as we are concerned."

Meanwhile, Leeds Maccabi’s clash home clash with Haroldeans fell foul to the wet weather.
