Vale travel to Harrow in the opening fixture of the Chess Valley Division One on Sunday, and can approach that encounter full of confidence following a 60-run triumph over Totteridge Millhillians.

Adam Brand (57) and Neil Lederman (83 not out) led the way with the bat as Vale posted an imposing 221-5 off their allotted 35 overs.

The bowlers then took over, with Steven Allweis and Rafi Saville both taking three wickets, and Brand, Josh Joshi and Nathan Gellman also adding to their tallies to restrict Totteridge to just 161-9.

Captain Allweis said: “It was just the type of performance that Vale would have wished for ahead of the new campaign, and we look in fine fettle for the league season.”
