A quickfire hat-trick from Rob Jacobs ensured AFC Flixton maintained their unbeaten start with a 4-0 demoilition of Black Star in the Accountants League Division One.
Last season’s MJSL treble winners only had a goal from Yaniv Salem to show for their first-half superiority, but the introduction of Adam Wilson and Adam Tauber proved decisive as they ran in three goals in the second half.
Jacobs doubled the lead when his cross sailed into the net. Flixton were awarded a penalty 10 minutes later and goal machine Jacobs made no mistake from the spot.
The striker completed his treble following a well-worked move 20 minutes from time, much to the delight of joint-manager Stuart Delmonte.
He said: "We looked a bit lacklustre in the first half and the changes we made paid dividends. The introduction of Adam Wilson and Adam Tauber seemed to reinvigorate and reenergise the whole team.
"Dan Ailion and Adam Green also deserve a special mention as they were superb throughout and never stopped working.
"We will have harder tests this year for sure, but we will give ourselves a great chance against every team if we carry on working as hard as we have done at the start of the season."
