Fisher targets rampant South

articlemain

Leeds Maccabi 2nd are desperate to pull off an astonishing Peter Morrison Cup shock against South Manchester Sports Club 1st this weekend.

Maccabi have endured a dismal start to the season, losing all eight games in the Leeds Sunday Alliance Division One.

Simon Fisher’s side have scored just six goals and conceded 51 to leave them rooted to the bottom of the table.

In contrast, South Manchester have roared out of the traps, winning all eight of their league games to move eight points clear at the summit of the Manchester Accountants Premier League

South are serious contenders for the Morrison Cup this season with prolific striker Adam Lavin looking to win the competition for the second year in a row.

Former Manchester Maccabi 1st star Lavin scored five in last weekend’s 10-3 rout of Manchester Villa and Fisher is hoping his side can pull off one of the biggest Morrison shocks in years.

“We know South will be tough and very competitive and it’s really up to us to spoil their party,” he said.

“We know that their manager Darryl Lee will be desperate to win and they’ll be a very competitive team.

“For us, it’s about getting our fitness because we’ve put out competitive teams and done well for 60 minutes before capitulating in the last half an hour.

“We need to get the balance right because we have a lot of youngsters mixed in with some older players.

“Hopefully we can improve and do well on Sunday.”
