Israel’s Maayan Davidovich was left to rue a poor finish as she missed out on a Olympic medal in the women’s RS:X windsurfing competition in Rio.
Davidovich entered the decisive race well placed in fifth place overall, tied with third and fourth positions, with the top two only five points in front.
She had a chance to even claim the gold medal and got the medal race off to an promising start, reaching the first marker in fourth place and only a few meters behind the leaders.
But after losing ground in the second leg it only went downhill from there.
Davidovich dropped down the field and ended the medal race in ninth out of 10 to finish in seventh overall.
