Danny Caro's Division 2 Team of the Week: October 23

articlemain

Here is my Select XI from Division Two on Matchday Seven of the season.

1. DAVID GORDON (FC Team B) - produced two "De Gea-esque" saves to help the 10 men record a win compared to "Lazarus being resurrected from the dead" in the first league defeat of title hopefuls Redbridge C this season

2. JOSH SHAFFER (RCUK FC) - "was given the unenviable task of man marking Adam Ellis and boy did he do a job. Apart from one early run through he didn't have a sniff. I think Josh followed him back to Birmingham. Was immense!"

3. BEN MANDEL (Hertswood Vale) - "didn't show any signs of rustiness or jet-lag as he made the long haul down from Manchester for the game. Two assists later, Finchley City must've wished he stayed in the north. (MOTM)"

4. MIKE MYERS (FC Team B) - a tower of strength at the back against Redbridge

5. JOSH BARNETT (Faithfold B) - "was a towering figure winning vital headers and tackles around the area. His cool finish wasn't too bad either, would've made Fogey blush"

6. JAMES BRESLAW (FC Team B) - capped a towering performance with the winner against Redbridge

7. JACOB SYMONS (FC Team B) - an outstanding display in a congested midfield engine room

8. DUDI EDRYEI (RCUK FC) - "played as the solitary CM first half and I thought there were three of him on the pitch. Breaking up play up and down the field and a real metronome that kept us ticking with one exquisite defence splitting assist that led to our first goal"

9. HARRY GRAHAM (Hertswood Vale) - " "a dogged 90 minutes with great all round play. Constantly was a menace to the Finchley City defence. The equaliser was the least he deserved"

10. AVI MARKIEWICZ (RCUK FC) - too modest to nominate himself but the player-manager scored two stunning free-kicks in one of the cup shocks of the weekend

11. ALEX ELF (NL Raiders C) - put in a huge shift against Catford, scoring a goal and a penalty in the shoot-out
