Bloom takes over at Goole FC

Baron Bloom says he is excited by the challenges that lie ahead after being appointed chairman at Goole AFC in east Yorkshire.

The 39-year-old property investor has been looking to become involved in a club for some time and after investigating a number of options, he believes the Evo-Stick League Northern Premier Division club offers the best opportunity to fulfill his ambitions.

"I have wanted to become involved in a non-league club and see how far we can move it forward," said Bloom. "My role, which will be completely unpaid, will be to assist in improving the club’s revenue.

"I am very excited at the possibilities that this creates and I look forward to success, both on and off the field."

The club this week appointed a new management team, with Curtis Woodhouse assisting David Holdsworth.

Bloom, who lives in Kensington and is a member of Great Portland Street synagogue, described the appointment of such a "heavyweight team" as a "real coup for the club".
