PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE
FC TEAM C 1 NORTH WEST NEASDEN 4
GIDEON BARNETT was the hat-trick hero as Neasden over-powered Division Two promotion hopefuls FC Team B to book their place in round four of the Jewish FA Cup.
A shock looked on the cards when Team forged ahead with a stunning 40-yard strike from Adam Stolerman, but parity was restored as Neasden hit back, with Adam Arnold adding the gloss.
NWN boss Stirling Kay told JC Sport: "If this was a boxing match, the ref would of called the game of at half time, yet we went in 1-0 down. We must of had 10 clear-cut chances and wasted every one, with their goalkeeper not having to make a serious save in the first half.
The second half started much the same way as NWN opened them up at will, yet with Stolerman have two more great strikes saved superbly by Steve Murad.
"It was only a matter of time and the ever-young Gideon Barnett scored with a superb strike, and then it was only a matter of time and he added two more for his hat-trick - he could've had 10 or more.
"I was very pleased the way we did not panic when behind and continued to get the ball down and create chance after chance. This eventually allowed us to win the game.
"We have finished the year on a high - we are now in the quarter-finals of both the Morrison and Cyril Anekstein Cup competitions, and have climbed off the foot of the table to give us a very good chance of avoiding relagation. And with Sam Franks and Dan Orgel coming coming back from injury in January, we are very much looking forward to the second half of the season."
