Manchester measles alert

articlemain

Salford Jewish schools have been placed on alert after two cases
of measles were confirmed in Broughton, Greater Manchester’s major Jewish area.

The local council has issued guidance letters to parents, with Mayor Ian Stewart urging them “to have their children vaccinated to prevent the number of cases of measles rising
in Salford”.

Jewish schools are involved in a major vaccination drive co-ordinated by Michelle Ciffer from the Hershel Weiss Sure Start Centre.

“We are urging parents of 12-to-15-year-olds to ensure their children have been vaccinated,” she said.
