World Jewish Relief is running the Operation Winter Survival campaign to encourage the community to support vulnerable people in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union during the harsh winter months.
"There are many individuals who are facing a life threatening winter," said WJR chief executive Paul Anticoni.
"Thousands of older people, those living with disability and families with children are living in appalling poverty, unable to afford the basic necessities of food and medicine let alone heating or repairs to their run down homes.
"Many are forced to rely on WJR’s support in order to survive the severe cold. We ask the community to get involved, give their support and make a difference."
