MGB’s female athletes lead the way with impressive haul of gold and silver in netball and bronze in girls’ football.

The British delegation also fielded teams in boys’ football, basketball and rugby but they failed to secure a medal.

MGB junior team manager Neil Taylor, said: “It was incredible to be part of the first Maccabi World Youth Games and even better to be coming home with three well deserved medals.”

Taylor commended the netball teams on “performing at the highest possible level to with limited preparation time”. He said: “They started as individuals and finished a successful team. They grew in stature in each game.

MGB CEO Martin Berliner described the competition as a resounding success. He commented: “The Games were the vision of the Maccabi World Union CEO Forum who wished to specifically target sports that would engage more female participants. We were proud to be able to take so many girls on the trip - it creates a great socially meaningful opportunity for both the boys and the girls and strengthens the Jewish social network which is what we have been doing for over 80 years here in Great Britain.”
