Mr Lustigman believes the availability of “first-class playing facilities” including The Hive (Barnet FC), Silver Jubilee Park (Hendon FC), Rowley Lane (London Lions FC) continue to make the league an attraction proposition for players aged 35 and over.
Speaking ahead of the start of the MMFL’s 19th season, Lustigman said: “I’m pleased we have retained all the teams from last season. Some will be under new management and early indications are that Chigwell Athletic will be serious contenders to challenge defending first division champions North London Raiders.
“Maccabi London Lions B will be looking to secure a fourth successive Division Two (over-45’s) championship despite the loss of star striker Marc Morris to EHRS, formerly EDRS Stonegrove.”
He went on to say: “I am disappointed that the league has shown no growth over the past few years but considering the fact that most leagues are struggling to maintain their numbers, I have to be pleased that we are not following a similar trend.
“Plans are already in hand to celebrate the league's 20th anniversary with its 10th Israel tour in 2018.”
