SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
LONDON LIONS 1 AMERSHAM TOWN 0
It was very much a case of after the Lord Mayor's show when Lions played Amersham Town at Rowley Lane. With four key players out of the starting line up from the cup final, Lions never really got going against opposition who are in the bottom half of the table.
It took the Lions about 20 minutes to get into their stride, and eventually a four-man move was sweetly finished by Reiss Mogilner, making his first start for the team.
Although Lions went in at half time in front, the kind of performance that they had displayed never got close to the cup-winning exploits of last Tuesday.
There were some pretty forceful words giving by the Lions' management team at half-time, but Lions never really got any better in the second half, although they always looked in control of the game, and were happy when the final whistle signalled the end of the game.
Lions manager Andy Landesberg commented: "We have played a lot better in some games and got nothing to show for it.
"Today we were poor, but nicked the three points and can move on to Wednesday nights game at home to Risborough Rangers."
The result has taken Lions up to seventh place in the league, just four points behind fifth and sixth-placed teams, with a game in hand.
