Israeli woman dead after Istanbul nightclub shooting

An Israeli woman has died following the New Year’s eve shooting at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul in which at least 39 people were killed and 70 wounded.

According to reports, Leann Zaher Nasser, 19, who went missing after the attack, was pronounced dead after being identified at an Istanbul hospital.

She was one of a group of four Israel women from the Israeli-Arab town of Tira who were partying at the nightclub when the gunman, believed to have been dressed in a Santa Claus costume, opened fire.

One of the group was wounded while the other two were suffering from shock.

Turkish police are hunting the attacker who has not yet been identified.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said: "Our security forces have started the necessary operations."
