articlemain

An Israel Air Force pilot has died after ejecting from a fighter jet over the Negev desert.

The navigator also ejected from the F-16 plane and has been taken to a local hospital with light injuries.

The plane caught fire, but it is not yet clear whether this was the reason the crew members opted to eject.

Amir Eshel, commander of the air force, has announced an investigation into the incident.
