A US Navy contractor who was charged over his alleged involvement in the Washington Capitol riots was known to his co-workers as a white supremacist and Nazi sympathizer who grew a Hitler moustache, federal prosecutors say.

Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, 30, was employed as a security contractor at the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, New Jersey when he allegedly breached the Capitol on January 6.

Investigators also recovered photos from army reservist Hale-Cusanelli's mobile telephone taken in April 2020 showing him growing a Hitler moustache, prosecutors say.

The photos were allegedly taken while he was on duty at the Navy base, according to court documents.

Images of pro-Nazi cartoons and were also recovered from his phone, prosecutors say.

One Navy seaman said that Hale-Cusanelli told him “he would kill all the Jews and eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and he wouldn't need to season them because the salt from their tears would make it flavourful enough.”

A Navy Petty Officer told investigators that Hale-Cusanelli talked constantly about Jewish people and recalled him saying that “Hitler should have finished the job.”

A contractor said Hale-Cusanelli allegedly once told him that he “did not like the Jews because they caused all of the world's problems.”

Investigators were also told that Hale-Cusanelli had once said “Jews, women, and blacks were on the bottom of the totem pole'.”
