Israeli actress Gal Gadot has given birth to her second child, a baby girl.

The star, who played Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, broke the news on social media yesterday to her hundreds of thousands of Twitter and Instagram followers.

She wrote on Twitter: “And then we were four...She is here, Maya. I feel so complete blessed and thankful for all the Wonders in my life #family #newborn #grateful.”

Ms Gadot already has a four-year-old daughter, Alma, with husband Yaron Versano, a successful Israeli businessman.

The post was accompanied by a black and white image of Alma wheeling her sister in a hospital cot, alongside their parents.

The 31-year-old star first announced that she was expecting last November.

In an earlier interview she spoke candidly about motherhood. She said: “I'm very happy being a mother and as soon as you begin raising your child, you feel this incredible love and happiness that is different from anything else you've ever experienced.”

Her new Wonder Woman film will be released later this year.
