David Solomons, the award-winning children’s author, is to write two Doctor Who books for the BBC, it has been announced.
The first, called The Secret in Vault 13, will be published in November and will feature the latest Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker.
The second, as yet untitled, will appear next year.
Mr Solomons said he was delighted. “Lifetime ambition achieved! Still can't believe I'm doing this, but the manuscript open on my Mac suggests it's real,” he tweeted.

The author is perhaps best-known for My Brother is a Superhero, which was named Children’s Book of the Year in 2016, and the follow-up, My Gym Teacher is an Alien Overlord.
Mr Solomons grew up in Glasgow where he had a traditional Jewish upbringing and attended Giffnock Synagogue.
His wife is the novelist Natasha Solomons - the couple share a studio in the garden of their home in Dorset where they write, and occasionally collaborate.
