Restored scroll celebrated

articlemain

Shir Hayim (Hampstead Reform Jewish Community) held a service on Sunday to rededicate a sefer Torah from the Czech town of Trebic, one of more than 1,000 damaged scrolls recovered from Czechoslovakia after the war.

The congregation was celebrating the completion of repair work to the scroll.

Camden Mayor Councillor Nadia Shah and Reform movement and Memorial Scroll Trust representatives joined Hampstead congregants at the service.

The Trebic Jewish community dates back to the 1300s and Hampstead Reform members have visited the town.
