Local MP Fabian Hamilton led the tributes to Edward Ziff at a party on Tuesday marking his retirement as Leeds Jewish Welfare Board president.

Praising Mr Ziff for his "wonderful work" for the welfare board and the wider community, Mr Hamilton told him that his "contribution has been immense".

Lord Sacks featured in a video tribute, pointing out that Mr Ziff had helped the welfare board "through some difficult times, steering it through to where it is today".

Mr Ziff said he left LJWB in "great shape" and encouraged his successor, Russell Manning, to be bold. "It's a huge commitment looking after people. You don't want any major setbacks, which, thankfully, we've never had."
