Chelsea Football Club has launched a ‘Say No To Antisemitism’ website as part of a long-term campaign to tackle the issue.
The Chelsea Foundation said the launch of the resource ensured there was a platform for the club to update fans with events and information around their anti-racism campaign.
Bruce Buck, Chelsea FC Chairman commented: “Since we started our ‘Say No To Antisemitism’ campaign, we have become convinced that education is absolute key to changing attitudes and make a difference.
“ In the next stage of our campaign, we have developed this new website to make the educational resources of our campaign easily accessible for all, and hopefully encourage more people to join this important cause.”
The slick new site currently includes an article on the World Jewish Congress attempts at eliminating Holocaust denial along with articles promoting a new exhibition on Jewish athletes and the Shoah which is called 49 Flames.
Chelsea has been at the forefront of attempting to tackle antisemitism amongst fans – and was the first club to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition.
But the club has had a long history of problems, with fans using antisemitic chants at matches.
