Young guns boost LMV title bid

Excellent displays from Neil Lederman and Andrew Greenwall-Cohen helped London Maccabi Vale 1st maintain their title charge in the Middlesex Sunday League Division One.

Some lusty blows over the top were the highlight of Lederman's valuable innings of 63 against Finchley. He added 50 runs together with Jon Daniels and then took a back-seat as Greenwall-Cohen (47) blasted several boundaries and three sixes in a similar stand as LMV closed on 243.

Lederman (2-21), Weitzman and Greenwall-Cohen (3-21) kept LMV in charge. With Finchley in deep trouble, Josh Frey, 15, continued the good work, taking 2-10 as LMV ran out winners by a crushing 128-run margin.

A century from Mark Landau could not stop MAL from going down to a two-wicket defeat in a friendly against Edmonton. Avishai Kestenbaum and Landau added 49 in eight overs for the third wicket.

Landau went through to his third century of the season off 74 balls.

Michael Klinger claimed a wicket and a run-out at the beginning of the Edmonton reply but it was to no avail as they edged home with three balls to spare.

Half centuries from Paul Salador and Matt Murray steered Chigwell & Hainault to a 35-run victory over Belmont & Edgware 2nds.

Salador (76) and Murray (56) helped Chigwell post 265-7 from their 35 overs with Salador reaching 50 off 31 balls.

Salador capped a man-of-the-match performance with figures 1-14 from five overs and although Ryan Monk blasted two sixes in a quickfire 28, BECC were dismissed for 230.

A terrific team performance helped Barnet Synagogue overcome their counterparts from Mill Hill.
Adam Ellis (5-15), all-rounder Noah Lipschitz (2-7) and Phil Ellis helped dismiss Mill Hill for for 85.

Ably supported by Phil Ellis and Richard Carlowe, the powerful Lipschitz finished unbeaten on 42 as Barnet eased home after
17 overs.
