Ullmann ready for Oakhill

Alex Ullmann has urged his Leeds Maccabi 3rd side to quash their reputation as the MJSL’s ‘pushovers’ by claiming their first win of the season.

Leeds have six of their seven league games so far this season with their only point coming against reigning champions Manchester Maccabi 3rd.

But Ullmann is adamant his side have improved in recent weeks and is confident they can break their duck when they face Oakhill Lions in Manchester on Sunday.

“There are no easy games in the MJSL, although a few teams might think we’re a bit of a pushover,” he said.

“We’re desperate to prove that’s not the case and we’re confident we can get a result against Oakhill.

“We’ve worked really hard in training over the last couple of weeks, particularly on the fitness side of things.

“Fitness is a key part of the game and it’s something we’ve struggled with as a team but we’re working on it as a group and on a personal level.

“We’re ready to compete for a full 90 minutes and we’re confident we can get that first win.”

Oakhill are in fine form and are unbeaten in six league games but Ullmann says his men are ready for the challenge.

He added: “We’ve changed our system, worked on things in training and we’re looking a lot more organised.

“At the start of the season we didn’t know what to expect and it was a case of 11 blokes just wandering up and down the pitch.

“Now we’re much more cohesive as a unit and we’re scoring lots of goals.

“We know Oakhill will be competitive and have had success in the past but everyone’s looking forward to it.”
