LONDON FA SUNDAY INTERMDIATE CUP FINAL
FAITHFOLD A 3 CONVOYS FC 2
A double from super-sub Daryl Phillips took Faithfold into the final of the London FA Sunday Intermediate Cup following an epic 3-2 extra-time victory over Convoys at Chase Lodge.
Mike Pearson put the Superhoops ahead with a diving header from a pinpoint Dan Perkins cross midway through the first half but Convoys levelled minutes later on the counter-attack with half time approaching.
The introduction of Paul Babai and Phillips gave Faithfold another dimension and record scorer Phillips put the Superhoops 2-1 up with a rebound from a Johnny Haik shot that hit the bar. Convoys took the game to extra-time when Ben Law was beaten for the second time but Phillips won it late on to send Faithfold into their second LFASIC final and keep their treble hopes alive.
Jubiliant Faithfold manager Zuriel Solomons told JC Sport: "I'm really proud of the boys today. We had to dig in on a bad pitch which doesn't really suit our football.
"Pychologically we have learnt how to adapt in games and we were hard to beat. Second half both teams tried to play and I thought we played the pitch well I then made a change with 15 to go and brought on Daryl and Paul Babai which was the game-changer.
"We didn't let our heads drop and kept probing. We played a determined and physical team but were too strong. We now get ourselves focused for next week knowing we have made the final."
The final will take place at Wingate & Finchley FC on April 7.
