A devastating performance from Daniel Stanton helped FC Team C complete an outstanding league double over FC Team B to finish the weekend top of the table.

A brilliant brace from Dan Stanton plus one apiece from Aron Barnes, Dan Alfreds and top-scorer Adam Stolerman did the damage.

FC Team B spurned a golden opportunity to open the scoring when Jon Breger saw his penalty saved by Matt Davis.

However, they managed to find a way past the former Team Maccabi GB stopper when Danny Moss registered.

The C's rallied superbly, with Stanton hauling them level before Aron Barnes helped get their noses in front to lead 2-1 at the break.

The next goal was crucial and it went to the C's, with Alfreds converting, with further strikes from Stanton and top-scorer Adam Stolerman sealing the points, before the B's staged a late rally of sorts to give the scoreline a sense of respectability.

Danny Moss, Richard Salmon, Dan Silverman and Adam Rones registered for the B's.

Delighted C-team boss David Gordon told JC Sport: "I’m so pleased to have won another closely-fought game. We had a 40-minute period either side of half time where we were devastating and took our chances when they presented themselves.

"We let them back into the game, but the conditions were worsening and it made it difficult to even just clear the ball.

"Credit to the B’s though; a lot of teams would have thrown the towel in at 5-1 down, but they kept making it hard for us right up until the end. I’m not sorry that this is the last time we will face them this season!

"We now have some room for error but the aim is to just continue our great league form and see where we end up".

Disappointed B-team manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "We only have ourselves to blame - we were on top for the majority of the first half missing chances including a penalty and only being one goal in front was always a danger.

"Then Stanton popped up with a wonder goal to make it 1-1 at half time. The Cs came out and blow us away for the first 20 minutes of the second half, we were a total shambles.

"We then regrouped and got it back to 5-4 and if the game was to continue any longer the momentum was with us.

"Saying all that, we have come up short twice and regardless of what we think we deserve from both games the results speak for themselves and credit to the C-Team.

"They are a great team with some amazing players and today their key players had great games.

"There is still half the fixtures to go so a lot can happen, but if they win the league they certainly will deserve it."
