GREATER MANCHESTER AMATEUR LEAGUE DIVISION THREE
ASHTON 116
SOUTH MANCHESTER 117-6
South won by 4 wickets

South Manchester finished the season in style with a four-wicket success over Ashton.

Playing at Styal CC, which will be South’s home next year, Ashton elected to bat first and progressed steadily with Muneeb and Freed taking the score to 80-2 after 20 overs.

Tight bowling from David Cohen put pressure on the Ashton batsmen which only benefitted Imran. Wickets started to tumble as Imran finished with 4-25 and an incredible spell of three wickets in five balls from Mo Iqbal finished off the innings in rapid style.

84-2 became 116 all out as eight wickets fell for just 32 runs.

South’s reply started well with Essue and Yousef putting on 32 for the first wicket, but they fell in quick succession and at 71-5 the innings was wobbling.

An excellent 45 from Mo Iqbal together with support from Josh Oehely saw the innings home.
