SOUTH MANCHESTER 2 SPORTING MANCHESTER 0
Second-half strikes from Marc Yaffe and Toby Levy earned South Manchester FC maximum points against a strong Sporting Manchester team on Sunday.
Sporting Manchester lined up with 10 men behind the ball for the entire 90 minutes and this caused SMFC problems to break them down.
With a few guilt-edge misses and the woodwork being struck twice within the first 65 minutes, it looked as though this was not going to be the league leaders, but the breakthrough finally came when Yaffe continued his run of goals with a goal direct from a corner making it 13 for the season.
This settled SMFC and 10 minutes later Levy scored to finish the game. few more chances went by when Sporting opened up, but it was a well deserved three points in the end.
South Manchester manager Jody Marks told JC Sport: "This was our last league game for a few weeks and whilst it wasn't the prettiest of games, I was delighted with the boys.
"The win pushes us into a very strong position in the league as some of our key title challengers lost against lower league opposition."
