South Manchester succumbed 2-1 against reigning champions PWC in the Premier Division.

South made a nightmare start - conceding two early goals, both of which were a result of their own mistakes.

They responded well and halved the deficit before half time through Louis Rawlings who continued his good scoring form with another headed goal from a corner, his third in recent weeks.

The second half saw South dominate, creating chances but lacking the cutting edge. When Toby Levy hit the post midway through the second half, it felt the equaliser was near - but PWC held out to record their first victory of the season.

South Manchester's Ian Tussie told JC Sport: "There was a particularly pleasing performance from stand-in-captain Toby Levy for South 1sts as he put in a sterling, if ultimately futile, performance."

It’s been a week of controversy for the hirsute South heartthrob after he spent the week in London training with old club Oakwood EDRSB.

Tussie added: "There has long been speculation that Toby may return to Oakwood who he left suddenly in 2013 after failing to settle in London (he took to the capital as well as Joey Beauchamp) and whilst Toby has long distanced himself from the rumours, last week’s photos of him training and smiling with his old team certainly hasn’t helped.

"We spoke to one of his team-mates (who wished to remain anonymous) and he was livid. "I don’t know why he (Toby) needed to train with Oakwood last week. It’s a bit of a farce, he said he was there with work and wanted to maintain his fitness levels ahead of Sunday’s game, but I checked with his boss who said he’d taken a few days’ annual leave to ‘find himself’.

"I used to play for Oakwood too and I can tell you their training sessions are shambolic. All they do is run, occasionally they get a few semi-pumped footballs out and do some shooting practise and a few drills from the 1980's, but I can’t understand why Toby would rather be there than train with South at our state-of-the-art training centre on the 6G training pitch."

Meanwhile, South 2nd team travelled to Liverpool with a bare 11 to face a typically strong Haroldeans side.

Manager Marc Magid played himself in a man-of-the-match performance, given to him by the opposing team.

Haroldeans proved too strong, putting two past Nathan Orr in the South goal.

Magid praised the "spirit of his squad, who fought to the end and could have taken something out the game".
