Dan Kristall praised Oakwood's new recruits after they claimed an impressive victory over the Lions at Rowley Lane, thanks to strikes from Guy Helman and Dave Woolman.

The game started well for the visitors who opened the scoring within two minutes when a cross from the right by Brad Wine and ball bundled in, with Helman claiming the final touch.

Oakwood restricted Lions to very few attempts on goal. Skipper Adam Levine went off after 35 with an injury but Ed Manson came off the bench to more than capably fill-in.

Lions playing the ball nicely but with no penetration and lacked any threat for the most part.

Oakwood used our bench well in the second half and made a couple of tactical switches. This resulted in substitute Sam Cantor on debut delivering a brilliant cross for Woolman to seal the win.

Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "It was a great all round performance against a decent Lions team, with the new signings all playing key roles and we're delighted to keep a clean sheet.

"It gives a good platform to build on going into the Yom Tov break."
