articlemain

Edmondstown lifted the Team Gross Cup on their way to a seven-trophy haul at the 19th Ladies National Tournament in Ireland.

The Dublin club collected the major prize for the first time, while Carole Shatter claimed the Singles Nett.

The host team also won the Pairs Gross thanks to superb displays from Mary de Courcy and Jane Callanan.

Edmondstown Lady Captain Martina Torreggiani and her partner, Anne O’Connell, won the Pairs Nett.

Cath Barker of Dunham Forest collected the Singles Gross Trophy. She edged out 18-year-old Katrina Gani of Shirley by a single shot with a superb round of 85 at the only competition where ladies from Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies all over the UK and Ireland have a chance to compete with each other.

A total of 84 lady golfers from 12 teams competed on the day, which was held at Edmondstown for the first time.

Dunham Forest, Shirley Golf Club, the Combined Societies Team, Dyrham Park and Hartsbourne were other trophy winners.

The event was rounded off by a rendition of Hava Nagila from the Edmondstown Choir.
