Mixed feelings for Furman

articlemain

Dean Furman says he was left with a "bittersweet feeling" after South Africa’s World Cup challenge ended this week.

Furman, 25, marked his 15th international appearance with his first goal for Bafana Bafana in the 4-1 win over Botswana, but the team’s qualification hopes were quashed by Ethiopia.

Describing his goal that capped a man-of-the-match performance, Furman said: "It was a very proud moment for both me and my family. Hopefully it was the first of many for Bafana.

"Apart from a little wobble for about 10 minutes when Botswana got their goal, everyone performed brilliantly and we are delighted with the win.

"We must continue to progress and build for the future."
