Matt adds the gloss for A-team

Matt Stock was at his mercurial best as Norstar London Raiders A boosted their hopes of winning the quadruple with a 6-1 victory over NLR B.

The MGBSFL leaders booked their place in the last eight of the Cyril Anekstein Cup in a game that was closer than the scoreline suggests.

There was little to separate the teams in the first half, but the A's went through the gears to ease home with strikes from Josh Green (2), Ben Joseph, David Rhodes and Stock (2).

NLR A's Jonathan Green said: "It was a real battle for us as the B's showed real character in dragging themselves back into the game, winning most second balls in midfield and creating chances.

"They have a real threat going forward and it was clear to see why they are top of their division.

"Thankfully we continued our recent habit of really going through the gears in the second half and once we got going, some of the football from the boys was a joy to watch. It's great to be in the hat for the last eight."

Simon Buchler registered for NLR B and boss Jonathan Adelman insists his players can take several positives from the game.

"The final scoreline was a little harsh on us given how well we competed, especially in the first half where we matched a great side every step of the way," he said.

Adelman singled out Stock as "the best player on the pitch," and said: "I hope the A's secure the silverware that their talent deserves this year."

Raiders A travel to Mitcham to take on Dee's in the Sunday Challenge on Sunday.
