Maccabi Masters review: December 7

articlemain

Two goals from Marc Ratzker earned HMH their second win of the season at the expense of Faithfold in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League.

An early header from the former Panyc marksman was followed by a powerful right-footed drive.

Shnayer Shapiro pulled one back for Faithfold, but HMH did enough to take the points.

Division Two leaders Maccabi London Lions were held 1-1 by Brady Maccabi. Frank Steinberg put Lions in front with a thunderous strike from 40 yards, but a long-range special from Lol Myers earned Brady a precious point following a battling performance.

EDRS Stonegrove boosted their title hopes with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Temple Fortune. Marc Schneiderman and Ian Leader (2) clinched the points for EDRS who moved to within a point of the Lions.

Fortune manager Howard Wallis reflected: "We played okay, especially in the first half when we worried them. But we tired towards the end and they scored a third in the last minute."

Zigzag Marshside kept up their good form with a hard-fought win over St John’s Tigers.

Faramarz Moghim opened the scoring for Marshside, but Tigers pulled level through Jonny Feinmesser’s deft chip. Sam Nourazi then scored twice to give Marshside a two-goal cushion, and despite Adam Soller pulling one back for Tigers with just minutes remaining, it was Marshside who took the points to stay in touch with the leaders.
