Maccabi are surprising many people, says Radiven

Anton Radiven warned the MJSL to underestimate Maccabi Manchester Yellow at their peril.

Heaton Park Rovers were the latest side to come a cropper after their shock 4-2 home defeat.

Anton Radiven’s men also upset the odds by beating Haroldeans last week. Sammy Dennison, Roy Fux, Jason Deach and Jonny Rashman all netted.

Their start is in stark contrast to last season and Radiven said “There’s been two excellent performances against strong teams. I’m proud of my side.

"We have been able to compete and are surprising many. Nobody outside of this club expected that. I don’t mind if teams are taking us lightly as they are coming unstuck.

"We have shocked a few players. Last week was a battling display and this week grew in confidence and played some great stuff.

Jonny Franks hit a double for HPR and boss David Seligman said: "Basic errors are costing us. We need to eradicate them."

Leeds Maccabi maintained their blistering start with another five-star display.

The defending champions look in ominous form as they thumped Reich Insurance Rangers 5-0.

Jamie Warner’s side were made to wait until the second-half until the floodgates opened. Rob Selwyn (2), Nick Vale, Richard Black and James Landes were all on target.

Elsewhere, Jordan Brookes grabbed the second-half winner as Haroldeans edged out Maccabi Manchester Blue.
