London Maccabi Vale went down to a three-wicket defeat against Redbourn in their opening match of the new season.

Openers Danny Caro and Mark Landau (27) laid solid foundations on a slow wicket. Landau’s stay came to an end when he feathered one behind and Grant Reingold followed shortly.

The runs continued to come at a good pace, with Alex Haffner (36) and Caro (43) taking the score past the 100 mark. A late cameo from new boy Steven Allweis (30 saw LMV finish on 179-9.

Redbourn openers Dan Lennox and George Naismith were in swashbuckling form as they tucked into the LMV attack.

Having been smashed for 47 runs off his first three overs, Grant Reingold showed great character to claim 5-16 off his next five.

Simeon Cohen and Harry Cohen also produced tidy spells but a powerful cameo from James Bunce ensured Redbourn won after 29.1 overs.
