Lennie, 85, still winning

Lennie Lawrence won the Men’s Singles title for players aged 85 and over at the British Hard-court Championships in Bournemouth.

Lawrence, who is President of Chandos Tennis Club, beat second seed Adrian Alle from Australia 6-4, 6-2 in the final.

John Barnett and Leo Fattal were edged out by the top seeds and current world champions in the over-75 Men’s Doubles event.

Barnett, who is a member at Harpenden and Oakleigh Park, used the event as part of his preparations for next month’s European Maccabi Games in Berlin, where he will represent Team Maccabi GB.
