Leeds win despite Pfeffer heroics

articlemain

Leeds comfortably beat an under-strength Sedgley side on a batsman-friendly wicket in the opening game of the NJCL season.

After losing early wickets, Sedgley racked up a score of 166 all out mainly due to an outstanding unbeaten 70 from new skipper Michael Pfeffer. He shared in 50 partnerships with Jonny Hart who made an accomplished 22 and Dazzler who made 17.

The pick of the Leeds bowlers were Dobkin and Goldberg who each took three wickets.

Leeds innings got off to a poor start as Gidi Matlin trapped Ullman LBW. However from there on in Leeds coasted towards their target despite further wickets from Pine and Pfeffer.

Williams batted beautifully for his 80. Sedgley's fielding was dynamic in particular Fox, Haber and the quite inspirational Benjamin Pfeffer.
