Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko fell short of her personal best in finishing sixth in the Women’s triple jump final at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.

Representing Israel in a major competition for the first time, Knyazyeva-Minenko, 23, cleared just 14.33m, but fell well short of her PB (14.71m) and season best (14.58m).

Compatriot Ma’ayan Furman-Shahaf cleared 1.88m with her second attempt in the Women’s high jump qualifiers at the same competition. The leap saw the Israeli finish in 16th place in qualification.

She said: "On the one hand I'm really happy because I jumped well, but I’m also disappointed because I felt I could have made the final.

"These championships proved to me that I am capable of competing at the highest level and this experience gives me even more motivation to do well."
