Hapoel in fair play breach

articlemain

Hapoel Tel Aviv have been fined €200,000 by Uefa for making an “excessive loss” last season.
Under financial fair play rules, clubs taking part in European competitions must balance their books.

Cash-strapped Hapoel are in disarray after Eyal Berkovic stepped down as manager in January. The club are languishing in 11th place in Ligat Ha’al, just four points clear of the relegation zone, and they will not be involved in European competition next season.

A Hapoel spokesman said: "The club’s management continues to work to correct these irregularities and find a buyer who will ensure Hapoel’s economic future."
