Team GB’s Over 35 futsal booked their place in the semi-finals after claiming back-to-back wins in their group.

Two goals from Marc Magid helped them come from behind to beat Mexico. GB keeper Phil Caplin was in top form, producing a string of brave and agile saves.

Delighted GB boss Dan Collins said: "Mexico were a lot better than I'd expected. They made it hard for us but our fitness came through in the end.

"Credit to Marc Magid who did it when it counted."

Matchwinner Magid commented: "I was meant to be here four years ago but my father-in-law passed away so this makes it all worthwhile.”

Magid was on the books of Bolton Wanderers as a youngster. The former King David pupil said: “I was there for almost four years but was not tall enough to make it.

"For the oldest man in the team, I'm not too bad.”

GB thumped Brazil 8-3 on Monday with goals from Max Radford (3), Gideon Barnett (2), Darren Cohen, Jonathan Rose and keeper Phil Caplin.

They will meet Israel or Argentina on Sunday for a place in the final.
