Reiss Mogilner, Adam Ellis, Zach Cohen, David Leiwy and Louis Naughten have been inspirational figures for their respective clubs. But the accolade of October’s best player goes to a midfield general who has been the heartbeat of the Los Blancos team.
Svi Freedman was described as “a real powerhouse” by Blancos joint-manager Joel Salomon following a string of excellent performances for the Division One team. He has starred in both matches in front of our cameras this season and scored a couple of “belters” in the wins over L’Equipe and North London Raiders B.
The top boss award goes to Avi Markiewicz of Faithfold A. The player-manager started the season in goal, wearing the fetching pink jersey once donned by yours truly. He has inspired the Superhoops to five victories, including an impressive 4-1 triumph over Premier Division Redbridge Jewish Care A in the cup.

* Boca Jewniors’s withdrawal from the MGBSFL is hugely frustrating for all concerned. It appears Sefton Monk was badly let down by broken promises and it has also had a knock-on effect, with Temple Fortune B having a 5-1 win — their only success to date — chalked off. Now they are bottom.
TFFC chairman Nigel Kyte did his best Delia Smith impersonation with a rallying call. He said: “We must all pull together and try to turn things around, starting on Sunday. Let’s see if we are up to the challenge.”
