Reich Insurance Rangers edged out the newly-formed Maccabi Manchester Yellow in a seven-goal thriller tinged with controversy.

Reich's Jordan Gold opened the scoring before player-boss Andy Hatton and Mark Mann hit back for the Maccabi.

But the game was turned on its head via two hotly disputed decisions. Maccabi believed Gold was in an offside position when he hauled the visitors level.

Michael Gastwirth then netted – but the striker then sparked a storm. Despite goalkeeper Reece Levy lying prone on the floor, Gastwirth took advantage by rolling the ball into an vacant net.

Reich, to their credit, allowed Hatton to walk the ball up the other end unopposed. But there would be no way back for Maccabi.

Hatton said: "It was an even game which could have gone either way.

"We were disappointed with a couple of incidents that went against us. But to be fair Reich showed great sportsmanship."
